Our Sock Wash is expertly designed for knitters to effectively clean, nourish and preserve hand-knit socks so that they last you longer.

In addition to the gentle no-rinse formula, we added antimicrobial tea tree oil as a natural antidote to bacteria, fungi and odour, while lanolin feeds moisture back into the fibres. This way your socks will stay fresh, fluffy and in shape for longer.

MORE BENEFITS

EFFICIENT NATURAL FORMULA WITH UP TO 100 WASHES The plant-derived, dye-, phosphate-, and sodium laurel sulphate free, biodegradable non-bio handwash formula with added tea tree oil and lanolin only needs 5ml, or 3 pumps, per wash which makes 500ml go a long way.

PUMP BOTTLE FOR EASY MEASURE AND NO WASTE The pump lid makes dispensing small amounts clean and easy. No more gloopy caps or fingers, just 3 pumps give you a clean and accurate measure of 5ml every time. Say no to waste and yes to the planet.

PREPARES FOR WINTER STORAGE The tea tree essential oil will add an extra layer of protection against fibre-hungry moths. We recommend storing your hand-knit woollen socks in breathable cotton storage bags and add moth repellents.

PERFECT TRAVEL DETERGENT Add 3 pumps of Yarn Food’s hand wash liquid for knitters to a water-filled sink, leave 20 minutes to soak, squeeze out water, lay out flat or hang to dry. No machine or effort needed. You’re on holidays after all.

WE SOURCE LOCALLY As a family business based in the British countryside we know what community means and care greatly to preserve it. This is why we source all our ingredients locally from small businesses like ourselves, because we believe in a world where people still matter and businesses care.

FRAGRANCE

Tea tree oil has a crisp and clean note which subtly enhances your spirits as you go about your day feeling refreshed from head to toe.

HOW TO USE

Hand wash: Fill a sink or basin with one gallon, or 4.5 litres, of cold or lukewarm water. Add 3 pumps (5 ml) of Yarnfood Sock Wash and soak your socks for 20 minutes. Gently remove from the water, squeeze without wringing, and roll up in a towel to squeeze the remaining water out. Lay out flat or block to dry.

Machine wash: Suitable for regular or HE machines. Add 9 pumps (15ml) into detergent drawer or directly into the machine. Wash on wool or delicate cycle following your yarn’s care instructions.

Care Info

All my yarn is dyed using professional acid dyes. Whilst every care is taken to thoroughly rinse any excess dye out during the dying process, you may experience minimal dye bleeding during the first couple of washes - unfortunately this is just the nature of hand-dyed yarn! I recommend washing in cool water and drying flat to protect the yarn and your lovely projects!

Please note we are a household with a cat and dog, both are kept away from yarn storage and the dying process.

All yarn will be shipped in hank/skein form and will require winding into a ball or cake to avoid tangles.

Unique

Each skein is hand dyed in small batches, and as such no 2 skeins will be the same making them truly unique. I follow recipes for each of my colourways to attempt to maintain consistency between batches, however the yarn and dye can have a mind of its own - 2 batches made together could easily look different.

If you are planning on making something that requires more than 1 skein, I highly recommend ordering enough to finish your project and alternating skeins each row whilst crafting - this should help maintain a consistent colour throughout.

I take great care in capturing the true likeness of the yarn colours in each listing, however please note that different phones or screens may display the colours differently.
